The partnership between the Ecole du Bon Berger and the Foundation, announced last January, was an important step in the development of the project. The main aim of this partnership is to support the construction of a multi-purpose hall that will serve as a refectory for the school’s pupils. This new infrastructure will help to improve living conditions for the pupils by providing them with a comfortable space for meals, thereby promoting their well-being and concentration in their studies.
After a hiatus due to bad weather in early summer 2023, work resumed last August, with a clear timetable for completion. The week of 28 August was devoted to completing the final foundation walls and concrete stringers for the entire hall. The team then set to work on the underpinning, a crucial stage in ensuring the structure’s solidity. The raising of the walls last week marks a significant step forward in the construction of the multi-purpose hall.
The initiative also aims to make the school partially or completely self-sufficient in electrical energy by installing photovoltaic panels. This transition to a clean, sustainable energy source will enable the Ecole du Bon Berger to reduce its environmental footprint while guaranteeing a reliable electricity supply, which is essential for maintaining educational activities and improving learning conditions. This stage is scheduled for November this year.
The Ecole du Bon Berger is therefore making successful progress with its project in Rwanda. The multi-purpose hall will be an essential milestone in the school’s mission to provide quality education to disadvantaged children in the region.
This project is an inspiring example of collaboration between a local school dedicated to education and a foundation committed to sustainable development and improving the quality of life in communities. It shows how strategic partnerships can have a significant impact on the lives of children and families in need.
